Ship Wrecked Stranded on an alien worldA surprisingly touching story Kim PetersAnother M W McGinnis rollercoaster ride that kept me reading late into the night K PersonsOkay too cool I'm on an alienplanet and I have my pickup truck Craig HathawayA wicked snowstorm had blown in from the north and the roads were a mess Recently split from his one time girlfriend there was now nothing holding Cameron Decker here in the little backwater mountain town of Larksburg Stand Time to get back to college back to Stanford Seeing a guy knee deep in slush at the side of the road he pulled to the curb and waved him over The guy smacked his head getting inknocked his watch cap askew Only then did Cameron noticenoticed that the individual couldnt possibly be humanCameron decided to help his stranded passengera decision hed soon come to regret Along with his rust bucket of a pickup truck he was soon heading deep into space aboard an interstellar spacecraft After the vessel crash landed onto an alien world he would nowhave to contend with a murderous droid and a slew of strange alien life forms But it is the forty five foot tall killer beasta Minal Loththat will impact his life the most Marooned Cameron must keep his wits to survive long enough to find a way to return homeback to that little mountain town and that girl who he should never have left in the first place Ship Wrecked Stranded on an Alien Planet by M W McGinnis is a very satisfying story for Science Fiction fansCameron gives a lift to a stranger whom he finds slogging through knee deep snow in New York near Lake Placid While driving down the road it becomes apparent that the stranger really isn't from around there In fact he isn't from this planetThis begins the story of Cameron and his adventures on Sang Morang a semi jungle proto planet over 10 light years from Earth His job assignment given him by an antagonistic 'droid is to recapture a baby Loth and bring it back to the space ship to be taken to an interplanetary zoo Oh yeah he also has to dig the ship out of the side of a plateau where the 'droid crashed while attempting a landingThe Loth in uestion is a baby but is growing with every enormous mouthful of food it eats It grows until it reaches it's full height of 45 feet Yeah; Loths are huge the most dangerous and ill tempered creature in the known galaxy All Cameron has to do is catch it with his bare hands and his battered Chevy pick up truck He never goes anywhere without his truckMark Wayne McGinnis is a master storyteller and is at the top of his game with Ship Wrecked The colorful planet and it's strange beautiful and dangerous ecosystem are the fantastic imaginings of McGinnis' fruitful mindFrom the terrors of flying serpents to the gentle climbers who live in the tree tops Cameron meets them all during his adventures on Sang Morang He makes unexpected friendships and endures wet your pants terror then makes friends with Art who's a good ol' boy from Texas and a giver of sage advice on how to survive on the alien worldThere are a few misspellings and grammatical errors but nothing that greatly detracts from this amazing tale McGinnis is true to form with Ship Wrecked He identifies the Hero Protagonist up front then in his first person view proceeds to tell this tale of adventure and loss both on Sang Morang and on EarthI really enjoyed this book There were portions that were slightly less interesting that others I particularly enjoyed the interplay between the sentient Climbers and Cameron The relationships were gentle and very touching Something not usually seen in SciFi adventuresRead this book but set aside a few hours where you won't be distracted because you won't want to put it down once you begin
