Ly consult self proclaimed seers Politics and the Occult offers a lively history of this enduring phenomenon Author and cultural pundit Gary Lachman provocatively uestions whether the separation of church and state so dear to modern political philosophy should be maintained A few of his fascinating topics include Politics. The prose lacks flair and suprisingly also the material given the subjectLachman is also too keen to keep emphasing his political correctness without answering what it is about the occult that interests such a politically correct author

Politics and the Occult The Left the Right and the Radically UnseenThe gritty business of politics is the Occult Kindle #208 not something we usually associate with the occult But esoteric beliefs have influenced the destiny of nations since the time of ancient Egypt and China when decisions of state were based on portents and astrology to today when presidents and prime ministers private. This book is written by an occultist As with most occultists they mix truth with lies First the individual is wholly incompetent in his understanding of non occult religions especially Christianity which in his mind means anything from mystics to catholics to evangelicals With such vague and abstract semantics the book looses all credibility and competency when dealing with this idea Not to mention the author espouses refuted fantasies such a Jesus in India Also his incompetency regarding the French Revolution and masonry is due to his lack of research Specifically he did not read or did not care to inform his audience of the book Fire in the Minds of Men Considering this man claims to be writing on occultism in politics and misses this reference in President Bush's speech one wonders why he bothered to write this book Also the author thinks that since he talked he proved his thesis the book jumps between facts never ties them together with politics or very rarely Also he clearly did not read Unholy Alliance by Peter Levenda which is the best book on occult in Nazism Not to mention he fails to inform the reader Hitler slept with Blavatsky's Secret Doctrines at his bedside He also ignores the role of Theosophy in politics or at best marginalizes it and then discusses obscure no bodies Such individuals are not UN sponsored occultists nor are their writings but Theosophy is UN sponsored In short a waste of your money only good if you wish to glean some ideas The final chapter was rubbish without substantial evidence it was as if the author's prejudice and bias wrote the final chapter In summary red herrings straw mans and semantic deceptions as well as willingly ignorance make this book a worthy book to collect dust on your bookshelf
