Instead of just 50 Women Epub #220 studying history let's think about HerStory too In this uplifting and inspiring book children can learn about intrepid women from around the world and throughout history Telling the stories of their childhood the challenges they faced and the changes they made each gorgeously illustrated spread is a celebration of girl power in its many forms With a range of pioneering careers from astronauts to activists musicians to mathematicians and many young readers will be inspired to follo. Bought this for my nieces aged 6 6 and 4—their mom thought it was such a cool book and the girls were all over it They were reading it at bedtime that very nightI flipped though it before I gave it to them The book is arranged like a colored encyclopedia beautiful illustrations with a new bad ass woman on each page and there are a LOT of options—from all different countries and ethnicities YAY I was a history student currently work in a history industry and I have to say this book does a good job at both representation and accuracy It does gloss over certain sensitive aspects suicide etc due to audience age but doesn’t sanitize the realities of ineuality and racism too much from what I saw It can be a good conversation starter to talk with young people about difficult topics like this The wording is fairly dense so very young kids will probably need someone reading the book with them for a few yearsAn awesome gift for any woman and SO important for young girls to see themselves shown honestly in a historic context I doubt they would learn about half of these amazing people in a typical US school

I really like this book and so does my 10 year old son I bought for my 8 year old daughter but the stories aren't as narrative form as my daughter likes report based with fun facts I enjoy that while there are many of the normal women you would expect included for a book like this there are many women I haven't heard of and a nice diversity in the types of women leaders and diversity in background from cultures all over the world and different time periods The author doesn't sugar coat if there are negative things that the women were known for but highlights strengths and I like the shaking up the world ending to each biography that highlights why they had a big impact on their world
