reader Competition is Killing Us

Competition is Killing Us How Big Business is Harming Our Society and Planet and What To Do About ItWe live in the age of big companies where rising levels of power are concentrated in the hands of a few Yet no government or organisation has the power to regulate these titans and hold them to account We need big companies to share their power and we the people of the world need to reclaim it In Competition is Killing Us top busine I was excited to read this book given the topic but it was uninformed nonsense To start with the title of the book has a massive contradiction I agree that big business is harming our society and planet but because of a lack of competition not because of too much competition This highlights a general problem running through the whole book it's an unbalanced attack on capitalism written in a populist way to persuade left leaning readers to buy it I admit I fell for it and filled with hackneyed phrases like for the many and not just the few The author rails against every feature of capitalism not recognising that her rants are often self contradictory I don't like capitalism either but learned nothing from such an unbalanced account and none of her proposals for reform are likely to see the light of dayI then wondered how a top business and competition lawyer another reason I bought the book could be so uninformed Looking at her actual experience it seems she's nothing of the sort She spent 4 months as an associate at one law firm 15 months at another and then moved into something else Her credentials are as exaggerated as her claims in the book
